Prepare for the future of inspections – stay one step ahead

Between 2026 and 2029, the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), Environmental Health Authorities, and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency will launch a comprehensive national inspection program for tattooing, piercing, and certain cosmetic procedures such as microblading. At the same time, new general guidelines will be introduced, significantly affecting how businesses are inspected – in greater detail than many in the industry have previously experienced.

Inspections will focus on:

  • Hygiene knowledge
  • Self-monitoring and documentation
  • Studio layout and premises
  • Work routines and workstation setup
  • Course certificates and proof of competence

In parallel, the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority will introduce a dedicated inspection program for laser treatments, an area where requirements for knowledge and documentation are increasing substantially.

In short: requirements are tightening. Our training ensures you are ready.

Courses aligned with the new requirements

Our training provides you with:

  • A complete walkthrough of the studio compliance model
  • Advanced hygiene knowledge
  • Current laws and regulations
  • Practical understanding of what inspectors will actually review

We have strengthened the course content based on the new inspection guidelines, so after completing the course you can feel confident during an inspection — whether you are a business owner, practitioner, or apprentice.

New in-depth module: pigments and materials

Since 2025, the course includes a specialized module covering:

  • Pigment content and chemical composition
  • Current pigment legislation
  • Product and material knowledge

This module is developed in collaboration with Mattias Lundberg, Sweden’s leading expert in pigments and pigment legislation within the tattoo industry. Mattias participates as a lecturer in the digital course and is responsible for a key part of the course day.

Validated content for Journeyman and Master Certification

Our digital courses are delivered in cooperation with SRT and are adapted for those planning to obtain Journeyman or Master certificates.

Tattoo Education Scandinavia is the leading Nordic education platform for hygienic procedures. Our course material is uniquely developed together with:

  • Leading manufacturers
  • Professional suppliers
  • Institutions and industry organizations

All with one shared goal: safer procedures and a higher industry standard.

Who is the course for?

Business owners / Studio managers

As the responsible operator, you are ultimately accountable for ensuring that:

  • Everyone in the business has the required level of knowledge
  • Regulations are followed
  • Documentation and self-monitoring are correctly implemented

Knowledge levels vary widely between countries. Even if a practitioner has foreign training, their competence must be verified with Swedish-recognized course certificates during an inspection.

This course gives you tools to:

  • Ensure correct competence within your team
  • Understand your legal responsibilities
  • Avoid costly inspection penalties

Individual practitioners

As a practitioner, you are personally responsible for understanding:

  • General guidelines
  • Environmental health regulations
  • Self-monitoring procedures
  • Hygiene routines

During an inspection, you may be asked direct questions in these areas. After completing the course, you will have:

  • A clear understanding of regulations
  • Correct documentation in place
  • Practical tools to improve safety in your studio

Many participants describe the course as “making complex theory easy to understand” and giving insight into how small behaviors can significantly impact client safety.

Apprentices and newcomers

If you are new to the industry, the amount of information can feel overwhelming. This course is designed to:

  • Be easy to follow even without long experience
  • Provide immediate practical benefit
  • Build a strong foundation of essential knowledge

We recommend new practitioners take the course multiple times during their first years. The content is essential for safe practice — and you gain access to extensive course materials and the opportunity to ask questions live.

Course Summary

The course runs approximately 09:00 – 17:00. Exact schedule and practical information are sent out a few days before the course. The course is conducted online via YouTube through a private link available only to paid participants. You can ask questions live in the chat during the broadcast. After the course, you complete a short test to confirm attendance. Upon passing the test, a digital certificate of participation is issued
